Determination of Ascorbic Acid in Pharmaceutical Products with Iron(Ⅲ)-O-Phenanthroline System by Spectrophotometry

This paper is based on the redox-complexation reaction between Fe(Ⅲ)and ascorbic acid,the resulting Fe(Ⅱ)reacts with o-phenanthroline to from the orange-red coloured ferrion chelate complex,and studies measuring the absorbance of this complex with cerylpyridinium bromide.The method is simple and rapid.
