Effect of Rkm on Carbonhydrate Absorption in Adults

  • In the present study, the eff ect of refined don jacmeals(RKM) on the absorpt ion of cereal car bonhydrate was ases sed by breath hydrogen test(BHT) in 13 healthy adults.Addition of RKM(4g) to rice or bread significantly increased the amount of hydrogen producted in intestine( p< 0. 01) compare with only rice or bread. RKM significantly decreased the car bonhydrate absorption rate of rice from 98% to 18%( p<0. 01) and bread from 85% to 45%(p< 0. 05), It was also seen that the percent age of subjects produced hydrogen above 1.8mg/m3(20ppm) obviously increased(from 9% to 58% for rice, from 55% to 85% for bread)after RKM was added. Oral-colon transit time(OCTT)of the test meals were ranked by follow as Lactu lose< RKM+Breab Lactulose< RKM+Bread< RKM + Rice< RKM< Bread. These results indicate that RKM can decrease effectively the carbonhydrate absorption of cereal.
