Effect of Zinc Status on Serum Insulin and Plasma Sugar in Childern

A 10-week Zinc and other micron utrients interventi on was conducted in 110 children aging 6～ 7 years old, who were divided randomly into Zinc and supplementation, Zinc and micronutrients supplementation, micronutiients supplementation and control groups. There are 30 and 20 children in each experimental group and control respectively. Serum Zinc, insulin and plasma sugar were determined. It was showed that serum Zinc increased significantly in 3 experimental groups, with the improvement of Zinc Status-, Serum insulin and plasma sugar in 3 experimental groups were higher and lower significantly respectively than in control group. The results suggest that serum insulin and plasma sugar correlate with Zinc status in children.
