Abstract
Objective To examine vaccination rate of hepatitis B virus( HBV) vaccine and its related factors, knowledge rate, and attitude in migrant workers and to provide evidence for health education in the population. Methods A questionnaire survey on rate of vaccination, awareness and attitude towards HBV was conducted among 1 447 migrant workers aged more than 20 years from enterprises in Zhangjiagang,Danyang and Taixing city. Logistic regression was used in statistic analysis. Results The hepatitis B vaccination rate was 59. 8%( 95% confidence interval95% CI:57. 3%- 62. 4%). The vaccination rate was associated with age, marriage status, educational level, living condition, and whether with health education( P < 0. 05 for all). Logistic analyses showed that hepatitis B prevention knowledge( odds ratioOR= 5. 573),health education( OR = 2. 811),education level( OR = 0. 2002),and age( OR = 0. 486) were positively correlated with vaccination behavior. The general awareness rate of HBV infection among the worker was 68. 5%.Main reasons for without HBV vaccination were not knowing the institution for the vaccination( 29%),worrying about side-effect( 19. 8%),and suspecting the efficacy of the vaccine( 17. 7%). There were 13. 2% of the workers reporting the discrimination to hepatitis B patients / carriers. Conclusion Migrant workers are key population of HBV vaccination and health education on HBV vaccination should be improved to increase the vaccination rate in the population.
