Abstract: Objective To examine the epidemic characteristics and burden of injuries among community inhabitants in Nanning city.Methods A household questionnaire survey was used to collect information about the incidence,disease burden and major influencing factors of injuries among urban inhibitants selected with random cluster sampling.Results The overall incidence of injury was 28.34%.Falls(8.73%),blunt/sharp object injury(6.24%)and traffic injuries(3.92%)were the leading three injuries.Slippery roads(32.65%),knife/glass injury(51.43%),violation in driving(54.54%),water scald(63.16%),food poisoning(71.43%),animal bites(55.56%)were major factors for falls, blunt/sharp object injury,traffic injuries,burn/scald,poisoning,and animal injury.The total annual economic loss caused by injuries was 3 965.8 thousands RMB yuan.Conclusion The injuries result in heavy economic burden to the society and families in urban area of Nanning city and health education and intervention should be strengthened in the urban population.
