Abstract:
Objective To analyze the health-related life quality and its influencing factors among elderly residents in Jiangsu province.
Methods The data on 3 273 residents aged ≥ 60 years in 6 districts/counties of Jiangsu province were extracted form the sixth National Health Service Survey conducted in 2018. Information collected via EuroQol Five-Dimension (EQ-5D) was used to calculate health utility value using Chinese utility value integral system. Rank sum test and Tobit regression model were adopted to analyze influencing factors of health-related life.
Results Among the EQ-5D health dimensions reported by the participants, the prevalence of moderate or severe pain/discomfort was the highest (33.15%) and the prevalence of difficulty in self-care was the lowest (7.36%). Tobit regression analyses showed that the EQ-5D based health utility value differed significantly by demographics, sociological characteristics, and health status and behaviors (all P < 0.05).
Conclusion The health-related life quality among the elderly in Jiangsu province is affected by age, gender, residential region, income, disease status, and health behavior and those variables should be concerned for developing targeted intervention programs to improve the quality of life in elderly populations.
