Abstract:
Objective To study the effect of vitamin A deficiency on rat's sperms and the enzymes activities of testis.
Methods The male Wistar rats 21-23th day after brith were divided into 2 groups randomly.One group was fed normal forage as control,the other group were fed vitamin A deficiency forage.After 90 days,the rats were weighted,drug anesthesia,serum vitamin A were presented by fluorimetric method,testicular and epididymal were isolated and examined viscera coefficient,the number of total sperm,the rate of sperm abnormality.The activities of alkaline phosphatases(ALP),lactate dehydrogenase isozyme(LDH)andγ-glutamyltranspetidase(GGT)of testis were determined.The cholesterin(CHOL)of testis was measured.
Results The serum vitamin A of vitamin A deficiency group was lower(

P<0.01),the testicular and epididymal viscera coefficient was lower(
t=12.12,3.83,
P<0.01);the rate of sperm abnormality increased(
P<0.01)and the number of total sperm significantly decreased in rats with vitamin A deficiency(
P<0.01).The activities of lactate dehydrogenase isozyme(LDH)andγ-glutamyltranspetidase(GGT)decreased in the vitamin A deficiency groups significantly(
t=3.22,3107,
P<0.01).The activities of alkaline phosphatases(ALP)also decreased(t'=2183,
P<0.05).The cholesterin (CHOL)of testis also decreased in the vitamin A deficiency groups(
t=3.37,
P<0.01).
Conclusion Vitamin A deficiency could influence rat's sperms of and enzymes activities and the cholesterin of testis.
