Abstract:
Objective To investigate the effect of interacion between endothelial nitric oxide synthase(eNOS)gene G894 Tmutation and age, smoking on the risk of coronary heart disease(CHD).
Methods Case-only design was used.Newly diagnosed CHD patients were recruited as subjects and polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP)was performed to detecteNOS gene G894 Tmutation.Interaction betweeneNOS gene G894 Tmutation and age, smoking was evaluated by odds ratios from simple and multiple logistic regression analysis.
Results There was significant negative multiplicative model interaction betweeneNOS gene G894 Tmutation and smoking, nor was the dose-response relationship significant.
Conclusion eNOS gene G894 Tmutation can lead to increased risk of CHD in younger groups, and the younger, the higher is the risk.
