Abstract:
Objective To understand the status of condom use among HIV/AIDS patients and provide fundamental information for carrying out HIV/AIDS education and prevention.
Methods Survey the condom use by means of interview and analyze the factors influencing the use of condom in HIV/AIDS patients.Data was processed with SPSS 12.0.
Results The condom use rate among HIV/AIDS patients was higher than that of comparable group(χ
2=220.62,P<0.05).HIV/AIDS patients using condom in every sexual activity had more awareness of prevention of AIDS with condom use than HIV/AIDS patients not using condom each time.The difference was statistically significant.Multifactor Logistic analyses showed several factors including marriage(
OR=1.504;95%
CI=1.128~2.007),education level(
OR=6.234;95%
CI=3.860~ 10.069),physical status(
OR=0.744;95%
CI=0.615~0.900),accepting the health education(
OR=1.461;95%
CI=11107~11927),age(
OR=01337;95%
CI=01244~01465).
Conclusion Family plan work should be closely linked with the prevention of HIV/AIDS.Increasing the awareness of disease among HIV/AIDS patients through strengthening health education will raise the condom use rate.Marital status,age,education level and physical status have impact on the use of condom among the patients.
