Abstract:
Objective To monitor risk behavior among senior high school students of Shenyang. The data will be used as reference for health and education department to develop policy of youth health and risk behavior prevention.
Methods Two thousand and fourteen students of grade 10 from 7 secondary schools of Shenyang were surveyed by self-administered questionnaire anonymously in May 1998.
Results Lots of high school students engage in behaviors that increase their likelihood of motor-vehicle crashes and other injuries.60.8% students rarely or never were a seat belt; during the 30 days preceding the survey, 3.9% students rode with a driver drinking alcohol; 2.4% rarely or never obeyed traffic rule; 9.5% students in a physical fight ≥1 times during the 12 months preceding the survey; 17.7% drank alcohol and 4.5% smoked cigarettes≥1 of the 30 days preceding the survey.
Suggestions The results indicated that more attention to the work of youth risk behavior prevention education.
