Relationship between the polymorphism of apoliprotein B gene and hepatitis virus C infection

  • Objective To investigate the rela tionship between two functional polymorphisms of the A poB gene and in fection of hepatitis C virus(HCV).Methods PCR restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP)technique was used to analyze the geno type of the A poB gene in 190 antiHCV positive hemodialysis patients(cases)and 398 anti-HCV negative hemodialysis patients frequency-matched to the cases by age and sex. Results The geno type frequency of GG,GA,and AA of G4154A was 84.2%,4.2%,and 1.6% for the cases and 91.5%,8.0%,and 0.5% for the controls with significant differences between the two groups(P<0.05 for all). The number of potients with A allele and G allele were 347 and 33 for the cases and 760 and 34 for the controls with significant difference bewteen the two groups. There was no significant difference in geno type frequency of C-2488T polymorphism bewteen cases and controls. Conclusion The results reveal that the polymorphism of the A poB gene may be associated with the susceptibility to HCV infection.
