Family adaptability and cohesion among type 2 diabetes patients and their influencing factors

  • Objective To investigate the mipact facors of family adaptability and cohesion in patients with type 2 diabetes.Methods Across sectional survey was conducted with Family Adaptability and Cohesion Scale(FACESII-CV)in 243 patients with diabetes.Results The score of cohesion was 67.40±8.82,higher than that of Chinese norm;the score of adaptation was 47.33±7.01,lower than the norm.The scores of cohesion were lower in the patients with poor education.The scores of family aclaptation were lower for patients of farmer,with the disease more than 10 years,with prmiary education or illiterate.Multivariate analyses showed that the occurrence of complication and education level were correlated to family cohesion and educational level was related to family adaptability.Conclusion Medical staff must pay attention to the emotion and belongingness of diabetic patients,especially to the patients with complications and loweducation leve lin psychological in te rvention for diabetes patients.
