Prevalence of hypertension and its influence factors among inhabitants aged 15-69 years in Zhuhai city

Objective To underst and the prevalence of hypertension and its in fluence factors among inhabitants in Zhuhai.Methods With multi-stage cluster random sampling in the three administrative areas of Zhuhai city,aquestionnaire survey was conducted in conjunction with the measurement of body height and weight and blood pressure among 961 inhabitants aged 15-69 years.Multivariate uncondition allogistic regression model was employed to analyze the influence factors of hypertension.Results The prevalence and standardized rates of hypertension in the population were 23.1% and 21.8%,respectively.The standardized rates of male,female,urban and rural populations were 24.0%,20.5%,23.3%,and 22.7%,respectively.No significant differences were found in the standardized rates of hypertension bewteen male and female or the urbun and rural(u≤1.375,P>0.05).Age,family history of cerebro vascular disease,heavy alcohol drinking,overweight,and obesity were identified as the major risk factors of hypertension with the oddsratio(OR)values of 1.079,3.109,1.446,2.296,and 9.246,respectively.The frequencies and kinds of fruit consumed a week were found to be protective factors of hypertension with the OR values of 0.547 and 0.590.Conclusion The prevalence of hypertension in Zhuhai's inhabitants aged 15-69 years is about the averag elevel of Chinese population,and hypertension has become amajor health problem for Zhuhai's inhabitants.
