Hygienic condition of homestays in Zhejiang province: an analysis on supervision data

  •   Objective  To examine the status quo of and problems in hygienic condition of homestays in Zhejiang province and to provide evidences for promoting hygienic supervision on homestay service.
      Methods  We collected and analyzed the data of supervision on hygienic condition of homestays from March 2016 to March 2017 in Zhejiang province. Semi-structure interviews were also conducted among 7 hygiene supervision experts.
      Results  Of the 12 179 homestays registered in the province in 2017, 46.33% were issued with hygiene licences; 99.93% were graded quantitatively; and 92.20% were classified as grade of C (low level). For all the homestays inspected, the qualification rates were 97.56% for staff's physical checkup and training, 10.48% for installation of disinfection facilities, and 58.01% for monitoring on hygienic indicators. During supervisions on the homestays, totally 107 violations against sanitary regulations were verified.
      Conclusion  Hygienic conditions need to be improved for homestays in Zhejiang province and hygiene permission- and quantitative grading management-based supervision should be perfected to promote sanitary status of the homestays.
