Association of purin-rich food with hyperuricemia: research progress

  • There are about 190 million patients with hyperuricemia in China. Hyperuricemia is also a risk factor for many diseases. Hyperuricemia is closely related to diet. The purine-rich foods such as meat, fish and seafood are metabolized in the body and converted into uric acid, which is excreted through kidneys and intestine. However, due to differences in the types and amounts of purine in food, the effects of these foods on serium uric acid are also different. Therefore, to explore the relationship between purine-rich food and serium uric acid and propose a reasonable dietary guidance are essential for controlling hyperuricemia and preventing the conversion of hyperuricemia to other chronic diseases. The study reviews the relationship between purine-rich food intake and hyperuricemia, and provides a reference for the prevention and treatment of revelance diseases.
