Progress in researches on highly active antiviral therapy for AIDS in China

  • Wide application of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) has led to AIDS being a controllable but currently difficult to cure chronic infectious disease. Drug side effects, combined use of drugs, drug resistance, cost-effectiveness, and antiviral therapy for special populations are still the aspects of researches focuses. Under the premise of ensuring the effect of antiviral therapy, expanding coverage of treatment is helpful to the control of epidemic situation, but how to improve the quality of antiviral therapy while expanding antiviral therapy is now a challenge.
