Profile of World Federation of Public Health Associations and membership participation of Chinese Preventive Medicine in the past and future

  • Founded in 1967 with a secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA) is dedicated to promoting global health. WFPHA consists of 104 national preventive medicine associations or public health societies, and represents voices of five-million public health professionals worldwide. Through an introduction on the development, organization framework and work priority of WFPHA, we analyze the role of WFPHA in promoting global health. By reviewing participant practices of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association as a full member of WFPHA, we explore possibilities of utilizing the working platform of WFPHA to give full play to advantages of medical societies and effectively carry out non-governmental diplomacy in the field of public health.
