Study on the Psychosocial Competence and Risk Behaviors of 1171 Children

  • Psychosocial competence and health risk behaviors and the association between them were studied among 1171 grade 7 students in Beijing.Besult showed that the inter relationshipcommunication skills and the emotion control-problem solving skills of girls were higher than that of boys, and the health risk behaviors score of girls was lower than that of boys(P<0.01).41.2% of students had at least one risk behavior.Linear and logistic regression analysis showed that the student's psychosocial competence and their health risk behaviors were associated. The lower the psychosocial competence they have, the higher prevalence of the risk behaviors. This study suggested us to pay attention to improve the psychosocial competence of students and teach them some concrete methods on communication, emotion control and problem solving,so as to prevent their health risk behaviors.
