Comparison of Three Antigens in the Diagnosis of Schistosomiastis japonicum by the Dot ELISA

  • Objectives To find an effective antigen applied in the diagnosis of schistosomiasis japonicum. Methods Dot-ELISA was used in the detection of Schistosoma japonicum 31/32kDa antigen(Sj31/32) IgG、soluble egg antigen(SEA) IgG and adult worm antig en(AWA) IgG in 108 cases of patient with schistosomiasis、25 cases of pat ient with Clo norchiasis、20 cases of patient with Paragonimiasis and 50 cases of normal human. Results The positive rates of Sj31/32-IgG、SEA-IgG and AWA-IgG were 92.6%、94.4% and 95.4% respectivity in 108 case of schistosomiasis, while the mean antibody titers were 1B333、1B982 and 1:850 respectivity. The Sj31/32 IgG was negative in sera of Clonorchiasis and normal person.Only one case was positive in the 20 cases o f Paragonimiasis. Some nonspecific reaction were emerged by SEA and AWA with sera of normal human、Paragonimiasis and Clonorchiasis. The sensitivity of Sj31/32-IgG was similar with the SEA and AWA,but the specificity was higher than that of SEA and AWA.Conclusion The results indicated that the value of Sj31/32 IgG in the diag nosis of schistosomiasis japonicum by Dot-ELISA mig ht be superior to that of SEA and AWA.
