Prevalence Survey of Cerebral Palsy in Children Aged 1 to 8 Years in Two Cities of Anhui Province

Objective To describe epidemio logical feature of cerebral palsy in children aged 1 to 8 years in two cities of Anhui province.Methods A cross-sectio n study was conducted in two cities,A nhui province.53 406 subjects were examined by the doctors of child health care.The double cases with cerebral palsy were diagnosed by diplomates.Results The prevalence of cerebral palsy in children at age of 1 to 8 years old was 1.65j(1.22j to 2.18j).That in males was 1.70 j and in females was 1.59j(1.10 j~2.08 j),respectively.No significant difference of the prev alence was found in the male and female children(χ²=0.102,P=0.749).T here were no significant difference of prevalence(1.22 j~1.84 j)among 1 to 8 aged children were detected(χ²=1.220,P=0.991).The distribution of mild,moderate and serious cases were count for 13.6%,33.6% and 50.0%,respectively.Over sixabnormal developmental evaluating items were found in 89.1% children at age 1 to 6 years old by using Denver Prescreening Developmental Questionnaire(DPDQ for short),and those were not found in the control subjects.Conclusion Cerebral palsy was also one of common neural dev elopmental diseases in urban children.Preventive and control measures should be paid attention to.
