Epidemiological Analysis on Measles in Guangxi During 1995-2000

  • Objective To study the incidence of measles to provide a scientific basis for the further control of measles in Guangxi.Methods Ta analyse epidemiological data of measles in Guangxi during 1995-2000.Results The incidence rates of measles in Guangxi during 1995-2000 were 7.21-12.86/100 000 per year with an average of 9175/100 000 per year.The disease occur red throughout the year with a peak in May and the lowest in September.The ratio of male to female was 1 to 0.76.The majority of cases(87.61%)occurred in children aged 14 years and below.43.20% of the total cases were school children.Although cases were reported in all counties,the higher incidence was reported in the Nanning,Baise and Hechi areas.There were more than 10 counties with the incidence of measles above 30/100 000 per year,the control standard of measles regulated by the Chinese government,except 1995.Of 9,419 cases reported during 1999-2000,21.69% were not immunized,and 32.01% had one dose,4.92% had two doses of measles vaccine,and 41.38% with an unclear history of measles vaccination.Conclusion An enhanced measles vaccination sould be carried out in Guangxi.
