Review and Progress of Poliomyelitis Eradication in Liaoning Province

Objective To review and evaluate the strategies for poliomyelitis eradication in order to consolidate the achievements of the work and provide reference in controlling other viral diseases.Methods Comprehensive analysis was conducted by using method of epidemiology,virology serology.Results After carrying out poliomy elitis eradication in Liaoning provine,basing on routine polio vaccination,supplementary vaccintion was carried out to establish an effective immune barrier.The AFP surv eillance system was established and completed in Liaoning.The various surveillance indexes reached every requiremnets for proving polio-free.Since 1993,no wild-type poliovirus was found.Conclusion The target of polio-free was realized in our province which indicated the ability to discover the wild-polio quickly and to obstruct it.
