Radioimmunological Analysis on Serum Pepsinogen and Gastrin of Rural Adult Residents in High Risk Area of Gastric Cancer

  • Objective To explore the serum level and distribution law of PGⅠ,PGⅡ,PGⅠ/PGⅡ ratio and GAS of the rural adult residents in high risk area of gastric cancer in China. Methods Serum PGⅠ,PGⅡ,GAS levels were detected with radioimmunoassay in 1504 local residents over 30 years old. Results The serum PGⅠ,PGⅡ and GAS levels varied dramatically among the local adults and were significantly skewed from normal distribution. The median values for PGⅠ,PGⅡ,PGⅠ/PGⅡ ratio and GAS were 56.30 μg/L,12.50μg/L,4.6 and 72.00pg/ml respectively.Serum PGⅠ,PGⅡ,PGⅠ/PGⅡ ratio in male(64.90μg/L,13.80μg/L,4.85) were all significantly higher than those in female(49.95μg/L,11.55μg/L,4.40;P>0.0001).No sex difference was found in GAS level. There were some differences in PGⅠ,PGⅡ levels among different age groups. Conclusion The serum PGⅠ,PGⅡ,PGⅠ/PGⅡ ratio and GAS levels were significantly skewed from normal distribution.Significant age and sex differences existed in serum levels of PG and GAS.
