Effects of α-linolenic Acid on Rats’ Behavior, Retina and Liver, Brain Fatty Acid Composition

  • Objective The second generation rats were used to study the effect of-linolenic acid on memory, retina and brain, liver fatty acid composition. Methods Based on the Morris Water plaza,ERG equipment and gas chromatog raphy, the second generation rats were analyzed. Results α-linolenic acid(per illaoil)could promote brain and retina development, elevate the learning ability and the electroretinalgraphic amplitudes, elevate the learning ability and the electroretinalgraphic amplitudes, increase the percent of C18:3、C20:5 in liver total fatty acids and C22:6 in brain total fatty acids:-linolenic acid deficieny impair spatial learning and visual funct ion. Conclusion -linolenic acid(perilla oil)had important nutritional value.
