Study on Effects of STD/AIDS Healthy Education Intervention Among Long-distance Truck Drivers of Shenzhen

Objective To study effects of STD/AIDS healthy education intervention among long-distance truck drivers of Shenzhen.Methods Four hundred and seventy-one truck drivers investigated were divided into three groups of meddling,tracing and controlling groups separately.One healthy education about STD/AIDS subject was given to the meddling group once,and was given to the tracing group every two months in six months.Only one education about hygienic knowledge was given to the controlling group.The knowledge about STD/AIDS was investigated in the way of questionnaire before and after the intervention separately.Results After healthy education meddling,the knowledge levels of STD/AIDS were increased in the meddling and tracing groups.The differences of the indexes before and after the meddling were significant(P<0.05,P<0.01).The KABP score of the tracing group before and after the meddling was elevated from 18.91 to 25.86.The difference was quite marked(t=6.38,P<0.01).In the meddling group before and after the education,the idea that contraception condom must be used was elevated from 36.5% to 87.5%(P<0.01).But investigated results indicated that behaviors of multi-sexual partners before and after the education hadn't had great changed in those two groups(P>0.05).The differences of KABP indexes before and after education were not marked in controlling group(P>0.05).Conclusion It was necessary for long-distance truck drivers to be meddled with long-term and designed healthy education about STD/AIDS,which should help the masses to build up the ideas of preventing STD/AIDS actively.
