Correlative Study on Quality of Life Index and Social Support in the Elderly with Psychosomatic Diseases

  • Objective To evaluate the relationship of quality of life index and social support in the elderly with psychosomatic diseases.Methods The Quality of Life Index(QL-INDEX)and the Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS)were examined in 54 elderly with psychosomatic diseases,and examined in 54 chronic illness elderly control excluding psychosomatic diseases and 54 health elderly control.Results The quality of life index of the patient group was worse than that of two-control group.The social support of the patient group was no difference from that of control.Results of canonical analysis of the factors QL-INDEX and SSRS in elderly with psychosomatic diseases showed that quality of life index positively related to‘subjective support'.Conclusion Psychointervention was helpful to improve the quality of life in the elderly with psychosomatic diseases.
