Relations Between Endemic Fluorosis and Chemical Elements in Environment

  • Objective To study the relation between endemic fluorosis and concerned chemical elements and to discover effective antifluoride elements. Methods Calcium(Ca),magnesium(Mg),copper(Cu),iron(Fe),zinc(Zn),selenium(Se) and flu-oride(F) in the environment in the endemic fluorosis area was determined with case-control method. Results Concentration of serum Ca,Mg and Cu decreased obviously in the skeletal fluorosis patients(P<0.05-0.01),whereas concentration of serum Fe increased significantly; serum Ca and Mg in the no -osteofluorosis patients of the fluorosis area were significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05); Ca,Mg and Cu content in the food and vegetables in the fluorosis area decreased compared with normal area, especially maize Mg content decreased significantly(P<0.05).Conclusion There were close relation between endemic fluorosis and Ca,Mg,Cu and Fe in body, majority showed anti-action.
