Study on Regulation of Bean Sprout Powder Rich in Chromium to Alloxan Diabetes Mice

  • Objective To study the reducing blood glucose action of the bean sprout powder rich in chromium on the alloxan diabetes mice.Methods Mung bean was dipped in the culture containing 40mg/kg CrCl3 for 24 hours and then was germinated under 25℃ for 5 days.The bean sprout was dried under 60℃ until the content of water in the bean sprout became lower than 11%.The dried bean sprout was crushed into powder.The total chromium content in the bean sprout powder was 72.6mg/kg and the rate of organic chromium was 95%.This bean sprout powder was given the alloxan diabetes mice by gav-age.Results The LD50 of Kunming mice of the bean sprout powder was higher than 10000mg/kg·bw and the bean sprout powder was testified with no mutagenesis.The alloxan diabetes mice was given three doses of the bean sprout powder by gav-age for 30 days.According to the total chromium content the three doses were low dose group,8.3μg/kg·bw/d,medium dose group,16.67μg/kg·bw/d,.and the high dose group 33.3μg/kg·bw/d.The results indicated that the fasting blood glucose levels and the absolute reducing blood glucose values of the medium and high dose groups were significantly lower than control group (given water by gavage,P<0.05).And there were no significant differences between the low dose group and the control group(P>0.05).Conclusion The bean sprout powder rich in chromium can reduce the blood sugar of the diabetes mice.
