Determination of Metals and Non-metals in Water by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry

  • Objective To study the fast and accurate method for determination of 23 metals and non-metals in water required by "Sanitary Standards for Drinking Water".Methods The method of ICP -AES was developed for the determination of various elements including Ag、Al、B、Ba、Be、Ca、Cd、Co、Cr、Cu、Fe、K、Li、Mg、Mn、Mo、Na、Ni、Si、Sr、Ti、V、Zn.Results The method provided excellent sensitivity and was very fast for the simultaneous determination of multi-elements.The detection limit of each element was between 0.000 02mg/L and 0.06mg/L.Standard linear correlation r≥0.998.Standard deviations were between 0.37% and 2.8%.Recoveries of spiked natural samples were of the range 91%-116%.Analysis results of standard reference material(GBW08607,GSBZ50009 -88、CW82、GSBE50019-90) conformed well with the certified values.Accuracy of results was further validated by comparing with the data obtained using FAAS.Conclusion The method for the simultaneous determination of metals and non-metals by ICP-AES was efficient, and the results were accurate and reliable.
