Relationship between Personalities and Mental Health of Young Students

  • Objective To explore the differences of the abilities of young students with different personalities to resist mental stress.Methods Adopting the LES,EPQ and SCL-90,we survey 880 students and use statistical analysis method in SAS software.Results (1)The students with interval personality had higher scores in the items of anxiety,depression and paranoid ideation than others;and the students with unstable emotion had higher scores in anxiety,depression,hostility and psychoticism.(2)Those who had interval and unstable personalities presented more psychological symptoms than others when they experienced discrimination,severe frustration and cold reception.Conclusion There were great differences in the abilities of the students with different personalities to resist mental stresses.Parents and teachers should understand the personalities of students,especially the students with interval and unstable personalities,help them to grow healthy.
