Preliminary Evaluation of Genetic Toxicology of Meat from Common Carp Exposed to Chromium

  • ObjectiveTo dicuss the edibility of fish with Cr and toxicological characteristic of Cr.MethodsMinced whole fish(Cyprinus carpio)fed with the diet containing 0.5mg Cr/kg for 2 months was used for genetic toxicological test. The minced meat was administered at various doses to mice by stomach-tube and mice were observed for two weeks.ResultsAcute toxicological test showed that minced fish meat was intoxic.Test of micronuclealus in red cells of bone marrow was negative. No chromosome damages were found in chromosome mutagenic analysis.Ames test was also negative in either with or without adding S9 metabolic simulating system.ConclusionMinced C-rcontaining fish meathad no mutagenic effect and was safe from the point of genetic toxicologicy.
