Investigation on Cryptosporidium infection among injection drug users in Dali

  •   Objective   To explore cryptosporidium infection among injection drug users(IDUs), preliminary study on the relation between sex, age, nationality, taking drug time and cryptosporidium infection.
      Methods   Stool samples of 500 IDUs were collected, occysts of cryptosporidium were identified with improved anti-acid stain.
      Results   The cry ptosporidium prevalence was 16.8%(84/500)among IDUs.The infection rate was differentin differentsex, age and nationality, butitwasn.tstatistics significance.With the prolong a time of took drug, the infection rate of cryptosporidium was increase too, and it was significant difference.
      Conclusion   The infection rate of cryptosporidium among IDUs was higher than that of the avedrage persons.The prevention and treatment should be enhanced for IDUs.
