Surveillance on sexually transmitted diseases of persons in a reeducation center in Shenzhen city in 2004

  •   Objective   To study the prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases(STDs)among persons in a reeducation centerin Shenzhen in 2004.
      Methods   Asurvey on sexually transmitted disease prevalence was carried outin 1329 persons in a reeducation centerin Shenzhen in 2004.Data were then collected and analyzed.
      Results   Out of the 1329 persons, 249(18.7%)cases were identified as having STDs.STD prevalence rate of females was higher than thatin males.The higher the educational level, the lower the incidence of STDs; whereas the lower the educational level, the higher the incidence of STDs.
      Conclusion   Epidemiolog ical surveillance of imprisoned commer cial sexworkers is one of the effective measures in reducing the sour ce of infections.
