Association between gene and schizophrenia

  Objective   To investigate the genetic association between the LOC345614 locus in 5q33 and schizophrenia.

  Methods   The PCR-based restriction fragmentlength polymorphism(RFLP)technique was used to genotype sing le nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)among 91 Chinese Han Family trios consisting of fathers, mothers and affected off spring with schizophrenia.

  Results   The distribution of genotype frequencies of rs154110 was no tdeviated from the Har dy-Weinberg equilibrium; haplotype relative risk test(HRR)did notshow a genetic asso ciation between rs154110 and schizophrenia; transmission disequilibrium test(TDT)did notshow significantly biased transmission from parents of affected offspring; however, rs154110 was associated with delusion of sin, delusion of persecution and other delusion.

  Conclusion   The rs154110 itself is notassociated with schizophrenia butithas significantly correlated with clinic sympto ms(delusion of sin, delusion of persecution and other delusion).
