Analysis on coincidence of HIV/AIDS and tubercolosis in criminal suspects

  •   Objective   To investigate the coincidence status with HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis(TB)in criminal suspects.
Methods   HIV and TB infection status were tested in 860 criminal suspects, who were arrested from June to Septenber in 2005, meanwhile the history of drug abuse were collected.
Results   50 of persons in 860 persons suspects were tested to be HIV postitive, at the incident rate of 5.8%(50/860)and then 11 of 50 HIV positive persons were found to be infected with TB, at the incident rate of 22%(11/50), however, in 810 negtive HIV persons, only 8 were diagnosed to be TB, at the rate of 0.99%.HIV positive persons were more possibly concidented with TB than HIV negative ones, the TB coincident rate between two groups were statistically different(P < 0.05).
Conclusion   In criminal suspects, HIV positive persons were more possibly coincidented with TB than HIV negtive ones, to this special problem and population more care should be taken by CDC and even whole society, furtherly the sputum smear slide and TB toxin test should be routinely carried out to HIV positive persons.
