Analysis on function of vessel in heart and carotid in obese adolescents by ultrasonic cardiography

  Objective   To observe the difference in the function of hearvessel and between obese and normal adolescents and to explore the effects of obesity on the heart and carotid in adolescents.

  Methods   Two groups were detected respectively with ultrasonic cardiography.

  Results   The interiordiameterof left atrium and the interventricular thickness of obese group were higherthan that of normal group(P < 0.05), yet the thickness of left ventricular posterior wall showed no significant difference between the two groups(P < 0.05).The blood velocity of right external carotid at the end of relaxing period in obese group was higherthan that of normal group(P < 0.05), and otherindexes had no difference between the two groups(P < 0.05).

  Conclusion   Obesity may cause some changes in heart and carotid.Early preventions and treatments of obesity should be helpful to prevent atheromatous cardiovasclarand cerebrovascular diseases.
