Investigation on serum lipid levels of middle school students under different nutrition status in Beijing city

  Objective   To study the serum lipid levels and abnormal status of 966 adolescents under different nutrition status in Bejing.

  Methods   Total 966 middle school students participated in height and weight measurements were classified into obese, overweight and normal-weight groups.Then their serum lipid levels were determined.

  Results   There were increasing tendency in lipid indices such as TC, TG and LDL-C and their abnormal prevalence with body mass index(BMI) increasing.There was significant difference among three groups(P < 0.05).There was no significant difference between obese and overweight groups while the others were not.

  Conclusion   The levels and proportion of abnormal serum lipid were much higher.Much attention should be paid to prevent and cure the hyperlipidemia of the adolescents.
