Analysis on lead and cadmium contamination of farm product in five cities of Guangxi

  • ObjectiveTo investigate the lead and cadmium contamination of main farm product in five cities of Guangxi.MethodUnder the strict quality control,8 types of main farm products in 5 cities were monitored for lead and cadmium.ResultsThere was total 923 significant data monitored from 588 samples which belonged to 8 foods.Lead contamination was mornitored to 429 samples.Serious lead contamination was found in preserved eggs in three cities.The standard-exceeding rate was 50% to 75%.As for lead contamination,the standard-exceeding rate of vegetables and soybeans was over 30% in Nanning while the rate of milk reached 100% in Baise city.With regard of cadmium contamination,the standard-exceeding rate of shells and crabs was respectively 93.0% and 82.0%.In Beihai that rate of animal kidneys was over 80% in three cities;the standard-exceeding rate in rice was 28.6% in Nanning and Yulin.In addition,that rate of vegetable was 24.3% in Nanning.Also in Nanning,lead and cadmium contamination was found in nine pieces of farm products including Beijing cabbage,white turnip,radish and kidney bean,etc.Double standard-exceeding rate was 15.2% (9/59).ConclusionComprehensive management and avoiding environmental pollution should be strengthened.
