Survey on STD and AIDS related health needs among recreation practitioners

  • Objective To understand the ST D and AIDS related health needs in recreation practitioners,to discuss the effective strategy on intervention of sexually transmitted diseases(STD)and HIV among this population.Methods Questionnaire was conducted among practitioner in recr eation sites by gr oup sampling method.Results 13.3% of these people went to the low quality clinics in the past one year;7.7% of the intervies went to the low quality clinics for tooth extraction;1101(93.7%)would initiatively visit nor mal hospitals when genitals symptoms were present;5.4% reported a history of ST D;34.6% would like to use free condoms;31.9% wanted to learn the skills to persuade partners to use condoms;and about 80% of women investig ated would like to take a gynecological health examination every year.Conclusion HIV health education and intervent ion should be embodied realistically,to ensure the learners could practice AI DS prevention measures and fixed them into their daily life.The adverse factors for health behavioral practices are both the restriction of economic condition and the lack of correlated skills,which hints that the behavior intervention should focus on skill training,with consideration of the financial environment of the target population,to help them develope a reachable condition.
