Analysis on depression and its influence factors among vocational school students

Objective To study the depression and the influencing factors,and to provide basis for psychological counseling and interventions.Methods 452 vocational school students were asked to complete the CES2D,ASL EC(adolescent life events)and TCSQ.Results 27.9 percent of the patients presented definite depress,the rate was 30% for females,24.2% for males.Stress intensity was stronger in students with obvious depression,and they showed more negative coping and less positive coping.Study stress,health adaptation and other aspect were risk factors for depression,and positive coping was the protective factor of depression;High risk appeared in grade three students were than the grade one students(OR=1.509,P=0.014);The risk of the vocational school students who were dissatisfied with major were three point two times than that of the student who were satisfied with major(OR=3.231,P=0.000).Conclusion High incidence of depression exists among vocational school students.Some efficient interventions should be taken as prevention.
