Influencing factors on psychosomatic health of medical postgraduate students

  • Objective To analyze the condition of the psychosomatic health in medical postgraduate students and the influencing factors.Methods 301 medical postgraduate students of grade 2006 in the Liaoning Medical University were selected by cluster sampling.Data were collected through the symptom check list 90(SCL-90)and self-designed questionnaire.Results The total score of the SCL-90 in this group(139.94±40.36)was higher than Chinese norm(129.96±38.37),t=2.006,P=0.045).There was no significant sex difference(t=0.681,P=0.497).The first fourth positive factors ratio in the psychosomatic symptoms were displayed in order:obsessive-compulsive(31.9%),depression(24.3%),interpersonal sensitivity(22.6%)and anxiety(14.6%).The results of Logistic regression analysis showed thathaving interests in their majors was protective factor for psychosomatic symptoms while worrying about tuition and having pressure of learning were risky factors.Conclusion There exists varying degree of psychosomatic problems in this special community of medical postgraduate students.Physical health education to the postgraduate students should be enhanced.
