Analysis on AIDS related knowledge of different kinds of population in Hubei province

Objective To know AIDS related knowledge of unlicensed prostitutes,outpatients of STD clinics and rural residents in the project areas of Hubei global fund project for AIDS prevention.To offer basic data for the project and to provide reference for the project inter vention strategy.Methods Questionnaire survey was conducted to the three kinds of population(8 052 people)and their rates of AIDS related knowledge were compared.Results The total rate of AIDS related knowledge of the three kinds of population was 72.2%(P<0.01,χ²=19.32).The rate of outpatients of STD clinics was the lowest,68.0%.Unlicensed prostitute.s knowing rate was the highest,75.0%.The total rate of the normal knowledge about AIDS was 57.5%.The total rate of AIDS transmission knowledge was 75.4%.The total rate of AIDS prevention and treatment know ledge was 73.3%.Conclusion Unlicensed prostitutes and outpatients of STD clinics should be the emphasis of AIDS health education.
