A cross-sectional study on risk factors of stroke in community population aged 40 years and over in Tangshan city

ObjectiveTo find out exposure level and distribution characteristics of risk factors of stroke in community based population of Tangshan city.MethodsTarget population were≥40 years and selected from Tangshan by duster sampling.Participants were investigated by aquestionnaire which included general information and common risk factors of stroke.Participants were grouped by age and gender.Exposure rate of risk hctors and its population distributive characteristics were described according to cross-sectional study.Results5267 individuals met the inciusion cfiteda and en/isted into data analy.sis.Exposure rate of hypertension,heart disease,diabetes,family history of stroke,obese,cigarette smoking and alcohol drinking were 30.70%,21.80%,5.45%,29.07%,20.24%,22.78% and 11.24%,respectively.Apart from male obesity and female alcohol drinking,there were significant difference between age and gender groups of an other factors(P<0.05).Significant differences between age and gender groups were also found in systolic and diastolic blood level and BMI(P<0.01).The exposure late of hypertension,heart disease and diabetes increased with aging.ConclusionExposure rate risk factors of stroke in community poptdation≥40 years old in Tangshan city is in high level which is closely relevant to age and gender.
