The relationship between hypertension and angiotension-converting enzyme insertion/deletion gene polymorphism of Kazakh in Xinjiang

  • ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between angiotension-converting enzyme insertion/deletion(I/D) gene polymorphism and the risk of hypertension.MethodsSampling 151 cases hypertension patients as the case with 200 controls, carring on related information collection.Polymerase chain reaction(PCR)method was used to detect genot ypes.ResultsAmong cases frenquencies of angiotension-converting enzyme I/D DD、ID、II genotype were 43.71%、34.44%、21.85%,compared with 28.00%、48.50%、23.50% among controls, respectively.Using II geno type as reference, the OR of DD and ID genoty pe were 2.383(95% CI=1.348~4.214),0.910(95% CI=0.527~1.571)respectively.The percentages of Dand Iallele were 60.93% and 39.07% in cases, and 47.5%,52.5% in controls, respectively.OR for Dallele in relation to Iallele was 1.706(95% CI=1.60~2.311)when I allele was used as reference. In addition, the present study showed that angiotension-converting enzyme DD genotype might interact with smoking, drinking, eating salty food, eating salty meat and obesity.ConclusionAngiotension-converting enzyme DD genotype mightincrease the risk of hyper tention and angiotension-converting enzyme I/D DD,ID genotypes might also interact with other environmental risk factors to increase the risk of hypertension.
