Study on genetic polymorphism of glutathione S-transferase M1 in healthy Han and Yao population

ObjectiveTo investigate the distribution of g lutathione-S-tran sferase M1(GSTM1)gene polymorphism in health Yao and Han nationalities of Guang dong povince.MethodsThe genotypes of GS.TM1 in 237 Yao and 229 Han people were detected by duplicate PCR technique.ResultsThe frequency of GSTM1 null genotype in Yao nationality was 68.35% (162/237),where as thatin Han nationality was 64.19% (147/229).No significant difference between the frequencies of these two groups was observed(P>0.05).There were also no statistical differences between that of males and females within the same nationality(P>0.05).ConclusionDistributions of GSTM1 genes are polymorphic in Han and Yao poplation in Guangdong,China.
