Analysis on death of malignant tumors of inhabitants in Xiaoshan from 1996 to 2006

ObjectiveTo investigate the cancer death's change in Xiaoshan district of Hangzhou city from 1996 to 2006 and its harm to people's health and society so as to provide scientific bases.MethodsMortality rate,standardized mortality rate,years of potential life lost(YPLL),YPLL rate,standar dized YPLL(SYPLL)and SYPLL rate were used to analyse death of malignant tumors.ResultsThe annual average mortality of malignant tumors was 137.22/10⁵ and YPLL rate was 16.27%.Among malig nant tumors,lung cancer took the lead with a mortality rate of 34.53/10⁵,accounted for 25.17% of total cancer death.The next sequences were as follows:liver cancer,stomach cancer,oesophagus cancer and intestine cancer.The sequences of YPLL rate of main death were:liver cancer,lung cancer,stomach cancer,and leukemia.ConclusionCancer death was ascending year after year among residents in Xiaoshan;The YPLL due to malignancies is relative high.
