Relationship between HPV infection and lung cancer in nonsmoking female

  • Objective To explore the relation between HPV infection and lung cancer in female nonsmoker, and to investigate its relationship with LOH of FHIT gene. Methods Lung cancer specimens and control specimens were examined for the sequences of nucleotide markers for FHIT gene and fragment of HPV DNA by PCR.Results HPVE6 had a higher prevalence in cancertissue than that in normal tissues,OR=3.500.In all 19 cases of HPV infection, there were 15 cases in which the FHIT gene LOH was found, more than that of non infection.HPV infection interacted with some lung cancer risk factors. Conclusion HPV infection contribues to lung cancer in nonsmo king female.LOH of FHIT gene might be involved in carcinogenesis of HPV related lung cancer, and has cooperative effect with other risk factors.
