Comparison of precipitating factors of domestic violence by geographic setting

  • Objective To compare the precipitating factors of domestic violence (DV)in nrral area,urban site and industry district.Methods A self-designed DV precipitating factors questionnaire was administered to 318 perpetrators and 306 victins of DV.Results The three leading precipitating factors of DV in rural area were bad temper of the perpetrator(59.8 %),family econom is status (44.9%)and bad temper of the victin (36.4%).The leading precipitaing factors in urban sitewere child education (38.6%),bad temper of the perpetrator (35.3%)and family econom is status (34.8%).The leading precipitating factors in industry districtwere child education (63.4%),family econom is status(18.8%)and bad temper of the perpetrator(17.3%).Conclusion The incidence ofprecipitating factors of DV varied by geographic setting.Family econom is status,bad temper of the perpetrator and victin,and interpersonal difficulty were highest in rural area Difficulty in marital relation was highest in urban site and child education factor was highest in industry district There were more co-occurrence of precphating factors in rural area.
