Relationship between physical-mental health and self-financing pension in elder of Kunming city

Objective To explore the relationship between the strength of self financing pension and physicalmental health of elder persons and provide basis for promoting aging health.Methods Using self rated health rating scale(SRHM S),815 elder persons of 60-90 year old at households of 18 communities in Kunming were surveyed.The subjects were divided into group A(<300 Yuan/m),group B(300-800 Yuan/m),and group C(>800 Yuan/m)according to their self financing pension status.The status of physical mental health and the accessibility of health service in different groups were compared.Results The physicalmental health scores of group A,group B and group C were 5.82±1.83,6.09±1.86 and 6.72±1.69,respectily,and were positively correlated with the amount of self financing pension.The amount of selt financing pension was closely related to education(χ²=202.53),occupation(χ²=271.71),as well as toretirement pension(χ²=215.72)and the difference between the groups was significant(P<0.01).The percentage of the subjects with medical assurance in group A,group B and group C was 343%,738% and 909%,respectively.Conclusion Economic support is the fundamental factor to improve public health services and promotion of aging health.
