Comparison of constitution indexes of Han male youth recruited from different areas

  • Objective To study the actuality and geographic difference of constitution indexes among Han recruited male youth aged 18-20 in China fors tudy of anthropology,anthropotomy and adolescen thealth.Methods One hundred sampling spots were selected among 31 provinces in China by cluster sampling.73 000 subjects aged 17-21 years were measured according to the manual of an thropomety.The data of Han recruited male youth aged 18-20 was selected.All analys is were carried out with SPSS 13.0.Results For Han recruited male youth investigated,the mean height was 169.1±5.5 cm;the mean weightwas 58.1±8.3 kg;the mean chest circumference was 82.6±5.8 cm;the mean BM Iwas 20.3±2.5 kg/m2;and the mean Vervaeck index was 83.2±7.0.The average height formale youth in north was 117 cm higher than that of the south;the average weight for male youth in north was 3.5 kg heavier than that of the south;the average length of lower limbs and upper limbs for male you in north were 1.5 and 0.5 cm longer than that of the south,respectively.The average chest circumference,waist circum ference and hipcircumference for male youth in north were 1.8,1.2 and 2.2 cm wider than that of the south.There was a decrease tendency of chest icrcum ference and Pignet index from north-east to south-west.The shoulder/height index formale youth in north-west w as the smallest(23.1),and for south-west and east-China were the the biggest(24.5 and 24.4 respectively).The sitting height index for male youth in north-east was the smallest(52.8),and for east-China was the biggest(54.6).The trunk-leg index formale youth in north-east was the biggest(90.4),and was the smallest(84.0)for east-China.Indexes in nutrition status for male youth in north were greater than that of in south.The diffe rence in nutrition indexes between urban and rural was consistent for north and south.Conclusion The geographical difference of constitution in Han recruited male youth is significan.tInfluence of geographical environment,climate and economy on adolescents'som a to types should be further studied.
